What are enzymes? Enzymes are proteins that act as bilogical catalysts.
Define chloroplast. Organelles that capture the energy fcrom sunlight and convert it into chemical energy in a process calles photosynthesis.
What are lysomes and what purpose do they serve? Small organelles filled with enzymes. They breakdown lipids, charbohydrates, and proteins.
Define photosynethsis. Plants use the energy from the sun to convert water and carbondioxide into high energy carbs, sugars, starches, and oxygen.
Define cellular respiration and write the complete equation for it. The process that realases energy by breaking down glucose and other food molecules in the presence of oxygen.
Which stage of cellular repiration takes place in the mitochondria? Krebscycle
Which stage of cellular repiration takes place in the cytoplasm? Glycosis
What is a spindle? A fanlike microtube structure that helps seperate the chromosomes.
What does DNA stand for? Deoxyribonuccleic acid
What makes up a nucleotide of dna Deoiribose, thymine, and anitregenosos gas
What does RNA stand for? Ribonucleic acid.
What makes up a nucleotide of RNA? Ribose, uracil, nitrogenous gas.
What are the purines? Adenine, and cuanine
What are the pyrimidines? Cytosine, and thymine
What does adenine combine with? Thymine
What does guanine combine with? Cytozine
RNA molecules do not contain thymine. What do they have instead? Uracil
How do you seperate DNA fragments? Put on end of the DNA in gel electrophoresis, then electrify the gel.
What is nondisjunction? When homologus chromosones fail to seperate.
Which two kingdoms excists now and also excisted back in the monera kingdom? Animalia and plantae
List the ways in which bacteria are important to human. Bacteria is used in the production of a lot of our food and drinks. They take waste products from water and help mine minerals. they also synthesies drugs
What are the roles that bacteria play in our environment? Bacteria decomposes dead matter recycling the nutrients to put them back into the ecosystem.
Describe a lytic viral infection. The virus infects a cell and reproduces untill the cell burts and then the reproductions infect other cells and starts the process all over again.
Malaria is caused by what sporozoan? Plasmodiaum
What is an algal bloom? A algal bloom is a tremendous amount of euglenophytes and other algae that clean waste in water.
Define protists? Any organism that is not a plant, animal, fungus, or prokaryote.
What is a funguses body mad up of? Many hyphae tangled together.
Mushrooms are classified as what kind of fungi? Club
Why are fungi important to the ecosystem? Fungi recycle nutrients by breaking down the bodies and wastes from other organisms.
