| Foreshadow | a hint at future events |
| Prologue | introduction explaining the theme of the play |
| Rhyme Scheme | a pattern of rhyme in a poem. |
| Rhymed Couplets | a pair of rhyming lines |
| Iambic Pentameter | a stressed and unstressed poem, 5 stressed and 5 unstressed per line |
| Blank Verse | an unrymed Iambic Pentameter |
| Sonnet | poem of 14 lines with a ryme scheme. the last two lines ryme |
| Paradox | a seeming contradiction that makes sence |

| Simile | comparison or 2 unlike things USING the words like or as |
| Personification | a comparison that gives human qualities to something inhuman |
| Foil | a secondary character who contrasts with a major caracter but in doing so highlights the maine characters personality |
| Allusion | refrance to a well known person, place, event or leterary work. |
| Comic relief | use of humor to lighten the mood or seriouseness or tragic story |
| Alliteration | repetition of initial consonent sound |
| Hyperbole | extream exaggeration |
| Monologue | speech made entierly by one person or character |
| Dramatic Irony | when the audience knows something that the characters do not know |
