| density | the quality of being dense (parts are compact or crowed together) |
| extension | the action or state of being stretched our in distance, space or time |
| found | to take the first steps in building an organization or institution |
| gizmo | a mechanical device or part whose name is forgotten or unknown; |
| glide | to move smoothly and continuously along, as if without effort or |
| hippie | a person who rejects the rules of established society (as by dressing unconventionally or favoring communal living) and advocates a nonviolent ethic; broadly : a long-haired unconventionally dressed person |
| hound | to push or affect by constant harassing (annoyance) |
| internship | any official or formal program to provide practical experience for beginners in an occupation or profession |
| jimmy | to force open (a door, window, etc.) |
| knock-knock joke | a punning joke beginning with the lines "Knock, knock." "Who's there?" (punning = the humorous use of a word in such a way as to suggest different meanings or of words having the same sound but different meanings |
| motel | an establishment which provides lodging and parking and in which the rooms are usually accessible from an outdoor parking area |
| piece-of-work | somebody or something remarkable, usually for a negative reason |
| point-blank | outright: directly or bluntly and without further explanation |
| prospect | a potential buyer, customer or employee |
| pursuit | the act of following after; chasing after |
| reel in | to bring in or acquire somebody or something by using the appropriate skills or offering suitable motivation |
| salary | fixed payments at fixed times in return for completed work |
| shift | a period of work |
| swivel | to turn on or as if on a swivel (a device joining two parts so that one or both can pivot freely - as on a bolt or pin) |
| ten gallon hat | a large cowboy hat: a cowboy hat with a high round uncreased crown and a wide brim |
