Aberration the act of departing from the right, normal, or usual course.
Acerbic harsh or severe, as of temper or expression
Acumen keen insight; shrewdness
Ad hominem argument an attempt to link the validity of a premise to a characteristic or belief of the person advocating the premise.
Admonish to caution, advise, or counsel against something.
Allegory a representation of an abstract or spiritual meaning through concrete or material forms; figurative treatment of one subject under the guise of another.
Alliteration the commencement of two or more words of a word group with the same letter
Allusion a passing or casual reference; an incidental mention of something, either directly or by implication
Altruistic unselfishly concerned for or devoted to the welfare of others
Ambiguity doubtfulness or uncertainty of meaning or intention
Analogy a similarity between like features of two things, on which a comparison may be based
Anecdote a short account of a particular incident or event, especially of an interesting or amusing nature.
