| Variable | A letter used to represent one or more numbers |
| Values | Numbers |
| Variable Expression | A collection of #'s, variables, and operations. |
| Evaluating the Expression | Replacing each variable in an expression with a number. |
| Unit Analysis | Writing units of each variable in a real life problem, in order to determine units for the answer. |
| Variable Model | Translation of words into math |
| Power | An expression of a number by the exponent |
| Exponent | Number of times a base is used as a factor |
| Base | A number or variable used as a factor in repeated multiplication |
| Grouping Symbols | Problems that have more than one operation, grouping helps indicate order of operation |
| Order of Operations | Starts with first grouping symbols, evaluate the powers. Then do the multiplication and division. Lastly addition and subtraction. |
| Equation | Formed with an equal sign. (=) |
| Open Sentence | An equation that contains one or more variable |
| Solution of Equation | A number that when substituted for the variable in an EQUATION, results in a TRUE statement |
| Solving the Equation | Finding the solution of an equation. |
| Inequality | A sentence formed when an inequality symbol is placed in the middle |
| Solution of Inequality | A number that when substituted for the variable in an INEQUALITY, results in a TRUE statement |
| Modeling | Writing algebraic expressions, equations, or inequalities that represent real life. |
| Mathematical Model | An expression, equation or inequality that represents a real life situation. |
| Data | Information, facts or numbers used to prove/describe a given statement is false. |
| Bar Graph | A graph that organized a collection of data by using horizontal or vertical bars to ddisplay how many times each event or # occurs. |
| Line Graph | A graph that uses a line segment to connect data points. It is useful for showing changes in data overtime. |
| Function | A rule that established a relationship between two qualities (called input & output) For each input, there is exactly one output. |
| Input-Output Table | A table used to describe a function by listing the inputs & outputs |
| Domain | The collection of all INPUT values |
| Range | The collection of all OUTPUT data |
| Output | Y-Value (Range) |
| Input | X-Value (Domain) |
