Matter Anything that has mass and occupies volume
Mass The amount of matter; weight
Volume The amount of space taken up by an object
Atom The smallest particle of matter that has its own physical and chemical properties
Element Matter that has only 1 type of atom
Substance A substance cannot be broken down without changing the properties; elements and compounds
Mixture A physical blend of two or more components that can be separated by physical means
Homogeneous Mixture A mixture with a uniform composition; called a Solution
Heterogeneous Mixture A mixture with a variable composition; different
Molecule Two or more atoms chemically combined
