Who was Maya Angelou in the story Maya angelou's full name was margurite and was refeerred to and maya because her younger brother bailey called her, maya sister. she was a young black girl at the age of ten
where did she live? Maya lived in Stamps Arkansas
Describe Maya's grandmother Maya's grandmother was referred to as momma and momma took care of her grand kids(Maya Bailey). She was very streetsmart woman who was very risky. She owned a store and a mobile cart and sold to the wealthy and the poor and ordered everything not vivible.
describe the store the store was spelt with a capital S and it was maya's favorite place to be. She loved working there and thought of it as the fun house of things.
What was maya like? Maya was very self disaplined,and was very incofident and had no selfesteam.
Why was maya the way she was maya was like that becuase since she was black and was segregated, she felt as if she was inimportant and didn't matter.
What happened to Maya? Maya was sexually abused by mothers husband and maya stopped talking. She was even more down on herself then ever before.
what was the setting? took place in the 1930's in Arkansas
what did maya love? Maya loved the chocolate kisses, and pinapple rings.
who helped maya? and who inspired her? Maya was very inspired by mrs. flowers. and mrs. flowers helped maya to speak again.
Describe Mrs. Flowers Mrs. flowers was an elegant wealthy black woman, alone in a beautiful house, who had taut skin and nice dresses and a very kind person who was seperated by her fellow peers and neighbors due to her wealthiness.
What did Mrs. Flowers do? she ivited maya to house for a chat. Flowers gave maya cookies and lemonade and tried to talk to her, and hoped for a response from maya. She read a book and told maya to read aloud whenever she read.she would continue to be able to communicate properly.
How did maya change? Maya eventually said yesmam. to flowers and eventhough that was onbly words said, she communicated the flowers, because flowers threw maya first lifeline, and inspired her.
How did maya feel at the end? MAya felt respected from Mrs. Flowers and was so thankful for her to be able to talk to her. Maya felt liked, and respected and felt happy agin.
