Real Numbers

| exponent | "in a power, the number of times the base is used as a factor" |
| integer | a whole number or its opposite |
| irrational numbers | numbers whose decimal form is non-terminating and do not have a pattern |
| powers | numbers written using exponents |
| radical | a number that contains the symbol indicating that a square root should be performed (√). |
| ratio | the comparison of two numbers that can be written in various ways |
| rational numbers | a number that can be written as a ratio of two integers |
| real numbers | all the numbers on the continuous number line with no gaps |
| scientific notation | a way of expressing numbers as the product of a number that is at least 1 but less than 10 and a power of 10 |
| square root | one of the two equal factors of a number. “What number multiplied by itself gives me this number?” |
| standard form | describes a numerical value written out with no exponents |
