noun | person, place, thing or idea |
verb | expresses action |
adjective | word that modifies a noun |
adverb | word that modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb |
preposition | a word that notes the relation of a noun to an action or a thing |
phrase | group of words acting as a single part of speech. A phrase missing either a subject or a verb or both. |
prepositinal | a group of words beginning with a preposition. Like any phrase, a prepositional phrase does not contain both a subject and a verb. |
pronoun | a word that takes the place of a noun. |
clause | group of words that contains a subject and a verb |
