When does the cortex show up white? (CT or MRI)CT... (on a MRI the cortex is black)
***What is the easiest way to tell the difference b/w CT and MRI?look at the cortex (CT = cortex is white; MRI = cortex is black)
MRI is best for almost anything, however you should use a CT on what?Use a CT for fractures of small bones, and areas of the chest and abdominal area b/c MRI has big problem with motion
***What is the number one enemy of MRI?Motion
On a MRI what color is considered a high signal? a low signal?high signal = white; low signal = dark
***What are the advantages of a closed magnet MRI, a open magnet MRI, and a stand up magnet MRI?Closed - is simply the best, more homogeneous and higher magnification. Use a open magnet for children and those who are claustrophobic. Use a stand up magnet if you want to see a piece of anatomy in a certain position.
What are coils on a MRI?they are basically antennas that capture info and send it to the computer
Imaging Voxel...hmmm I didn't really understand what in the world he was trying to say with this. ***However????Bigger the cube = Larger Signal BUT less resolution...Smaller cubes = smaller signal, BUT more resolution. You need a mixture of both
***Contrast or Not? When should you use contrast?Contrast will show all the inflammed areas. If you suspect a tumor or infection use conrast.
What is the name of the chemical used as contrast?Gadolinium-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-DTPA)....Duh - its a paramagnetic compound
***Can contrast be evaluated on T1 or T2 images?Contrast can ONLY be evaluated on T1 b/c it has similar properties as fat.
