decubitus ulcer A lesion that develops over bony prominences when pressure is exerted over time.
demineralization Calcium loss in bones that causes them to become more radiolucent.
diverticulitis Inflammation of colonic diverticula.
geriatrics The care of elder adults.
nonaccidental trauma (NAT) Another name for battered child syndrome.
organic brain syndrome The term for a large group of disorders associated with brain damage or impaired cerebral function.
ostepenia Calcium loss in bones, causing them to become more radiolucent; demineralization.
osteoporosis Calcium loss in bones, often through aging, that results in bones’ becoming porous, brittle, and more radiolucent.
Parkinson disease A degenerative condition of the nervous system that causes tremors.
pediatrics The care of children.
