Precautions for Cryotherapyover a superficial main branch of a nerve, over open wound, hypertension, poor sensation and/or mentation, very young/old patients
Contraindications for Cryotherapycold hyper-sensitivity/allergy, cold intolerance, cryoglobulinemia, paroxysmal cold cryoglobinuria, Reynaud's Disease or phenomenen, over a regenerating peripheral nerve, over an area with circulatory compromise or PVD
Adverse Effects of CryotherapyTissue death, frost bite, nerve damage, unwanted vasodilation
CP (cold pack): temperature for storage23 F
CP: treatment duration10-15 min. for pain, inflammation, edema; 30 min. for spasticity
Ice massage: treatment duration5-10 min. OR until analgesia
