Term | Definition |
Force | a push or pull |
Gravity | the force that pulls us down to Earth |
Motion | the change in position of an object compared to a reference point |
Air resistance (drag) | the forces that are in opposition to the relative motion of an object through the air |
Friction | caused when two objects rub together to create heat |
Reference Point | a place or object used for comparison to determine if something is in motion |
Speed | the distance the object travels in one unity of time |
Equation for Speed | Speed= distance/time |
Velocity | Speed in a given direction |
Newton's First Law | an object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force |
Inertia | the tendency to resist changes in motion |
