indirect object | Comes before a direct object and answers TO/FOR whom, or TO/FOR what. |
antecedent | A pronoun that replaces a noun. |
indefinite pronoun | Usually an antecedent of a subject pronoun. |
subject pronoun | A pronoun that is used as the subject. |
pronoun | Takes the place of a noun. |
verb | An action, being or helping word. |
verb test | Use "I" + (the word). |
noun | A person, place, thing or an idea. |
subject | Who or what a sentence is about. |
predicate | Tells what the subject is or does. |
fragment | A group of words that do not make a complete thought. |
simple subject | The main word in the complete subject naming the subject. |
complete subject | The complete description of the subject of a sentence. |
complete predicate | All the words that tell what the subject is doing. |
simple predicate | Verb or verb phrase that tells what the subject is doing. |
verb phrase | A main verb and any helping verbs. |
compound subject | More than one subject in a single sentence. |
conjunction | Joining words: and, or, nor, but, yet. |
