What are the characteristics of a solid?   Have a fixed size, shape, and volume. The particles are packed tightly together (touching) and vibrate back and forth.

What are the characteristics of a liquid?   Take the shape of their container, have a movable surface, but their volume is fixed. The particles are spread out a little and are able to slide past each other.

What are the characteristics of a gas?   Take the shape of their surface. The size, shape, and volume changes depending upon the size of the container. The particles are very spread out and move very quickly in all directions.

What is condensation?   When a gas (such as water vapor) is cooled and becomes a liquid.
