DEFINITIONS
ELECTROSTATICS   the branch of physics that deals with stationary or resting electric charges
STATIC ELECTRICITY   another name for resting charges
ELECTRIFICATION (Positive & Negative)   when electrons are removed from or added to an atom
POSITIVE ELECTRIFICATION   insufficient amount of electrons
NEGATIVE ELECTRIFICATION   exessive amount of electrons
CONDUCTORS   allow a free flow of electrons EX: copper
SEMICONDUCTORS   intermediate in conducting ability
INSULATIORS   electrons do not flow freely EX: rubber, wood
GROUND   connected to wet earth by a conductor
FRICTION   the removal of electrons from one object by rubbing it with another of a different kind
CONTACT   when a body charged by friction touches an uncharged object
INDUCTION   when a charged body is brought near an uncharged body
ELECTROSCOPE   detects the presence and sign of an electric charge. It can be charged by either contact or induction.
METHODS OF ELECTRIFICATION   friction, contact and induction
