Term | Definition |

Blog | a collection of online posts that anyone can write. Even though many are unreliable, some legitimate organizations and experts also write blogs. |
Native Advertising / Sponsored Content | an advertisement designed to look like a news story |
News Aggregator | a website that collects articles from many different sources online instead of creating the content through its own staff of paid reporters. |
URL Domain | the “address” of the website’s host computer or server. Includes top-level domains such as .com, .org, .gov, .edu |
Bias | A concentration or interest in one particular area or subject—a biased source could be reliable, but is only giving part of the whole picture. |
If a headline provokes an emotional response... | ...proceed with skepticism and see if other more legitimate websites are also reporting the story |
The most important consideration when evaluating information... | ...check out the source or author to see if they are an authority on the subject |
