What is nautural law?  A law that applied to everyone and can be understood by reason.  
What did Thomas Hobbes believe?  He believed that humans were naturally and selfishly violent, they could not be truseted to make decisions on there own. He felt the needed to be ruled by leviathan (a sea monster)  
What did John Locke believe?  He believed in natural law. He also believed in natural rights, which were you rights from birth, Life, Liberty, and the persuit of happiness.  
What is the one thing that Locke and Hobbes agreed on?  That people should be ruled by a goverment.  
What does seperation of powers mean?  that power should be divided equaly among the branches of goverment.  
What are the three branches of goverment?  Executive, legislative, and judicial.  
Who was Voltaire and what did he believe?  He was the greatest thinker of the Enlightenment. He did not like the Roman Catholic Church. He also didn't like the goverment supporting one religon and forbidding others. He also supported Deism.  
What is Deism?  A religious belief based on reason. According to the followers of Deism, God created the world and set it in motion. Then he allowed it to run itself by natural law.  
What is absolutism?  When Monarchs held absolute power.  
Where did Fredrick the Great rule.  Prussia.  
Who was the supporter of womens rights during the Enlightenment?  Mary Wollstonecraft  
What happened to Russia under Cathrines rule?  It gained even more land and increased its power.  
What was louis XIV known as?  The Sun King
