cell membrane keep cytoplasm in, allow nutrients and waste out all cells have it
cell wall provide strength and support to cell membrane only in plants and algae
nucleus holds the cells' DNA called the control center
nucleolus stores materials that will be used to make ribosomes found in the center of the nucleus
ribosomes makes proteins from amino acids the smallest but most abundant organelle
endoplasmic reticulum (ER) makes lipids and breaks down drugs only in eukaryotic cells; called the internal delivery system
mitochondria breaks down food to make ATP needs oxygen
chloroplasts photosynthesis occurs here only found in plants and algae
Golgi complex processes, packages, and transports materials sent from ER called the cell's packaging center
vesicles membrane covered compartments in eukaryotic cells forms when part of the cell membrane surrounds an object and pinches off
vacuoles store water and other liquid much larger in plant cells than animal cells
lysosome digests food particles, wastes and foreign invaders a type of vesicle
