1.Prose | Writing that isn't poetry. Prose is generally divided into fiction- made up stories- and nonfiction which relates facts about real people, places, things, and events. |
Poetry | A kind of rhythmic, compressed language that uses figures of speech and images that appeal to emotion and imagination |
Short Stories | Short works of fiction, which can generally be read in one sitting. Unlike novels, which may have several main characters and several intertwining plots and conflicts, short stories typically have one main character who has a basic conflict. |
Vignettes | Short short stories. Vignettes are short sketches that are often no longer than a page. They provide a glimpse into a character's life or a brief description of something |
Conflict | Struggle between opposing forces. In an external conflict, a character struggles against some outside force , such as an enemy or a hurricane. An internal conflict takes place within a character's heart or mind |
