Inside my computer

Motherboard The "heart" of the computer
CPU Central Processing Unit; The "brain" of the computer; "processor" or the "chip"
RAM Random Access Memory; Used to store information for files that are actually being used by the CPU at any given time
Graphic Card Translates information into graphics and text that appear on the monitor screen
Power Supply Supplies power to the other components; Has a fan built into it to keep itself and computer cool
Hard Disk Hard Drive; Stores programs and data & the computer accesses them as they are needed
Optical Drive DVD drive, or a CD drive
Hardware The actual physical components that go into the computer
Software Refers to the programs and systems that operate within the hardware.
