Fordney-McCumber Tariff 1922 raised tariffs to almost 60%, Europeans could not sell goods to America and therefore could not repay war debts.
Limiting Immigration Emergency Quota Act 1921. Discriminated against people from eastern and southern Europe. Banned all immigrants from Japan.
Automobile The use of the assembly line creates a mass production of the Ford Model T and led to a construction boom (roads,gas stations,service industry)
Consumer goods Novelty goods such as radio,washing machine,vacuum cleaners are purchased widely. Very often on credits
18th Amendment Prohibition banned the sale,manufacturing and transportation of alcohol.
Effects of Prohibition Bootleggers(illegal production of alcohol)Speak easy(illegal establishments that serve alcohol.Al Capone builds an empire centered around illegal distribution of alcohol.
Women during the 1920s Assert their independence and demand the same freedoms as men. Birthrates drop and women enter the workforce.

Great Migration 1/3 of African American population moves north to seek economic opportunities.
NAACP National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization.
Harlem Renaissance A literary and intellectual movement that fostered a new black cultural identity in the 1920s and 1930s.Created a noteworthy works of art and literature increases . During this time their is much recognition of African-American writers and musicians
