Organic Compunds

QuestionAnswer
What are molecules? A combination or two or more atoms of the same element that are joined together chemically.
What are compounds? It is a molecule that contains at least two different elements. All compounds are molecules but not all molecules are compounds.
What are organic compounds? They are compounds that contain carbon.
What are some examples of organic compounds? Carbohydrates, prooteins, lipids and nucleic acid.
What elements are contained in organic compounds? oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur.
What materials are made of organic compounds? All living organisms are made up of it.
Where do organic compounds come from? Molecules containing the element carbon.
What elements are found in carbohydrates? Carbon, Hydrogen, and oxygen.
What are some examples of carbohydrates? Sugar, starch, and cellulose.
What elements are found in proteins? Carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, and phosphorus.
What are some examples of proteins? enzymes.
What elements are found in lipids? Carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.
What are examples of lipids? Fats, oils, and waxes.
What are large carbohydrate molecules broken down into? Simple sugars.
What are large protein molecules broken down into? Amino acids.
What are large lipid molecules broken down into fatty acids.
