What is the definition of nonverbal communication? oral and non-oral messages expressed through channels.
What are three characteristics of nonverbal communication? NVC exists, NVC is ambiguous, NVC is cultural bound.
What are some types of non verbal communication? Posture, gestures, face/eyes, voice, touch, physical attractiveness, distance
What is intimacy in a relationship? The closeness in a relationship, not sex.
What is impersonal communication? the lack of quality interaction with someone
What is interpersonal communication? an actual relationship in which you care about the person.
Why is the revising stage the most important stage? that's when the people want to get the relationship back on track
What is self-disclosure? deliberately revealing significant information about yourself.
What is the alternate to self-disclosure? white lies
What do white lies do? avoid conflict, aid social interaction, help gain power
What is aggressive behavior? "My way or the highway", manipulating situations to get what you want.
What is assertive behavior? using empathy in dealing with someone.
What are the four methods of conflict resolution? win-win, win-lose, lose-lose, compromise
