What are infants at high risk for? Respiratory distress

What are Adolescene at high risk for? Drug abuse
Infant is considered to be what age group? Birth to 12 months
Toddlers is considered to be what age group? 12 to 36 months(3yrs)
Preschooler is considered to be what age group? 3 to 6 yrs
School Age is considered what age group? 6 to 12 yrs
Adolescent is considered to be what age group? 12 to 18 or 20yrs
What is growth? An increase in a number of cells
What is development? An increase in complexity, ability, skill, and understanding
What is maturation? has to do with potential
What is Differentation? Describes how cells take a specific characteristics
WHat is Readiness? a period of time when a child is ready to take on a specific task.
If a doctor says a child is growing Cephalocaudally; What does that mean? growth from head to tail
If a doctor says a child is growing Proximaldiatally; What does this mean? Growth from near to far
If a doctor says a child is growing Mass to Specific; What does this mean? Gross motor control comes before fine motor control
Important to Know.... Every child grow in the same order, but at different rates
Can a child walk beofre they sit up? No never
What areas does the (DDST) Denver II Test, test for? 1. Personal-social 2.Fine motor- adaptive 3.Language 4.Gross Motor
