Bill to Law
How a bill becomes a law
Question | Answer |

Step 1 | The bill is thought up and brought to a representative (either a senator or Houuse rep.) |
Step 2 | The bill is writen and introduced to congress (either Senate or House of Representatives) |
Step 3 | The bill is sent to a committee and is looked at and voted on. |
Step 4 | If the bill is passed by the committee, it is sent to the floor for discusion,changes, and vote |
Step 5 | If the bill passes in the house it is in, it is sent to the other house. |
Step 6 | The bill is sent to a committee and is looked at and voted on. |
Step 7 | If the bill is passed by the committee, it is sent to the floor for discusion,changes, and vote |
Step 8 | If it passes by both houses they have a joint committee of both houses. They then compormise on the changes that they made so that the bill is agreed on by both houses. |
Step 9 | The bill is then sent to the president to sighn, veto, or wait on. If he sighns it becomes law. if he vetoes it does not become law. if he waits it automaticaly becomes law after 10 days. |
Step 10 | If the president vetoes a bill then it sent back to congress and voted on again. If the bill is voted yes by two thirds of congress the presidents veto can be over rided and the bill becomes law. |
