Caesar's death led to Civil War
After the assassination and civil war, Octavian (Caesar's adopted son), Mark Antony and Lepidus took power and formed Second Triumvirate
The second triumvirate ended in jealousy and violence, the group battled each other and only one remained as dictator Octavian
Octavian took this title which means "exalted one" as ruler of Rome. Augustus
Starting with Augustus, for 207 years, 27 BC to 180 AD Rome had a period of peace and prosperity known as Pax Romana
Augustus was an efficient emperor who developed this government system that paid workers to run the government civil service
