dependent variable (DV) in an experimental setting, any variable whose values are the results of changes in one or more variables.
descriptive research research procedures that are used to summarize sets of scores.
double-blind study a study where participant and experimenters assistants are unaware of which participants have recieved which treatment in order to eliminate bias.
experiment to test or try, espically in order to discover or prove something.
experimental group researchers test or try, espically in order to discover or prove something.
experimenter bias experimenter whose expectations about the outcome of the experiment can be subtly communicated to participants in the experiment.
hypothesis educated guess of what u think is gunna happen.
independent variable (IV) in experimental settings, the stimulus condition whose values are free to vary independently of any other variable in the situation.
informed consent is a phrase often used in law to indicate that the consent a person meets certain minimum standards.
nature-nurture controversy the debute concerning the relative importance of heredity and learning or experience in dererming development and behavior.
neroscience/biopsychology perspective the scientific study of the brain and of the links between brain activity and behavior.
participant bias researcher choosing of participants
placebo a change in behavior in the absence of an experiment manipulation.
psychology the science of the mind or of mental states and processes.
sample bias some members of the intended population are less likely to be included.
