Define: Nonpoint source pollution | Answer: Hard to identify. Ex: salt applied to icy roads, cow manure, and fertilizers. These all become nonpoint source pollution problems when it rains. |
Define: Stormwater runoff | Answer: Rainwater that runs over the land, picks up nonpoint source pollutants, and eventually ends up in our streams and lakes. |
Define: Water Resources | Answer: All of the ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, and wetlands in an area. |
Define: Watershed | Answer: All of the land area which drains to a particular body of water. |
Define: Hydrologic cycle | Answer: The process by which the water in our enviroment is constantly recycled and purified. |
Define: Evaporation | Answer: The water is changed from liqid to gas by heat. |
Define: Condensation | Answer: The water is gas to liqid/solid by cooling |
Define: Precipitation | Answer: The condenced water falls to earth as rain or snow. |
Define: Transpiratation | Answer: The process by which pants release water throgh their leaves. |
