Chicken pox Skin condition characterized by a rash that develops into pustules and vesicles lasting abt. 5-7 days Acute form of varicella zoster, virus infection transmitted through airborn route, grows in respiratory tract and is spread through body by lymph and circulatory system Do not massage, wait for rash to subside

Pediculosis Itchiness of scalp, pubic area, or other places of skin Blood-sucking lice transmitted through personal contact and sharing of combs, brushes, bedding, towels, and clothing Avoid direct contact w/client, refer to dr.
Psoriasis Chronic skin disorder characterized by oval, silvery, plaque-like scales with patches of red, especially on the scalp, ears, genitalia, and skin over bony prominences Unknown, suspected genetic influence Avoid infected area, refer to dr.
Scleroderma Autoimmune disease characterized by deposition of collagen in skin, lungs, heart, kidneys, and gi tract, 2/3 as likely in females, common signs include inflexible, cold-sensitive fingers, "mask-like" face Autoimmune disorder, unknown cause Avoid infected region, refer to dr.
Atopic eczema Noncontagious, general inflammation of skin, characterized by blister-like formations that burst and form crusts, commonly involves scalp, arms, trunk, and legs, may develop dry, pigmented areas of skin that begin around elbows and knees and spread Unknown, may be allergic Do not massage any painful, itchy, or weeping areas
Lupus erythematosus Chronic inflammatory disease, often shows periods of exacerbation, relapse, renal failure and cns problems most common causes of death, can affect most body systems, 85% female, sometimes manifest as a butterfly rash across nose and cheek Autoimmune dissorder of unknown cause in which the body produces and immune response against nuclear components of cell, suspected factors include stress, sunlight, and infections Refer to dr.
Urticaria Itchy skin eruptions Usually allergic response to allergen or irritating agent, may be influenced by psychogenic factors Do not massage any painful, itchy, or weepy areas
Decubitus ulcers Dark patches or ulcerations of skin that lead to necrosis of skin Prolonged pressure over bony prominences, usually from lying or sitting in one posititon to long without moving Do not massage affected area
