Procedures Head/ Neck

Vertebral Artery test | C supine. Extend, rotate, & sidebend head to same side. C's eyes open and hold for 30 secs. |
TMJ AF ROM | C seated. MT stands behind C and places fingers in front of ears. Have C open mouth. Check for clicking, crepitis and assymetrical motion. |
3 Knuckle Test | Have C make fist and place as many knuckles as they can b/n teeth. |
Swallowing Test | C seated. Pincergrasp belly of SCM ,, at most tender pt. Have C swallow. Pos. if P diminishes. |
Scalene cramp test | C seated. Have C rotate head to affected side. Pos. if P is reproduced & radiates down arm |
Scalene Relief test | C seated. C places affected forearm across forehead, then elevates shoulder. pos. If P radiates down arm. |
Atlanto-Axial Articualtion PR-ROM | c supine, grasp C's head at temporal region - flex c-spine to end range. Rotate head, both sides. Pos, findings when leathery end feel. |
Atlanto-Occipital Articulation PR-ROM | C supine. Grasp head at base of skull. Flex or extend and then move C's head L->R and R->L Pos. if leathery end feel |
Spurlings | C seated. Passively extend, sidebend and rotate, apply slight downward pressure. Pos P |
Cervical Compression | C seated, head neutral, apply slight downward pressure on neck. Pos is P |
Cervical Distraction Test | C supine. Place gentle distraction on C-spine to relieve pressure of compressed nn root. |
First Rib Mobility | C supine. One hand inferior to clavicle, other hand on posterior neck, apply alternate pressure. Pos if hypermobility of rib |
Orbicularis Oculi | C supine. have C close eyes and MT attempts to open them. |
Valsalva's Maneuver | C seated. Have C place thumb in mouth, create seal and bear down. Pos if P |
Chivostek's | Tap repeatedly over parotid gland. Pos if face twitches and facial mm contracts. |
Jaw Reflex test | c seated with mouth slightly open. MT places thumb on dip of chin. Tap thumb with reflex hammer |
Sinus Transillumination | using flashlight, place between eyebrows to assess frontal sinus. Place flashlight in mouth to assess maxilalry sinus. |
