Waves and review

naturally made solid materials that are found on Earth. They are the building blocks of rocks. Minerals
natural fuels that come from the remains of living things. They give off energy when burned. Fossil fuels
where two lithospheric plates slide past each other. Earthquakes occur frequently along this type of boundary. Transform boundary
where two lithospheric plates come together and collide. Mountain ranges can be formed this way. Convergent boundary
forces that are equal and cause no change. The net force = 0. Balanced forces
forces that are not equal and cause an object to change speed and/or direction. Net force = the difference in the two forces. Unbalanced forces
particles of the medium must vibrate in order to transfer energy. Ex: water waves, seismic waves, sound waves & spring waves. Mechanical waves
waves that can travel through a medium or through empty space. Ex: radio waves, microwaves, infrared waves, visible light, uv rays, x-rays. Electromagnetic waves
wave transmission occurs when waves pass through a given point or medium (material). Transmission
occurs when energy is not transferred through or reflected by the given medium. Absorption
