decomposers an organism that feeds on a dead oragnaism and breaks down dead plant or animal matter
parasites an organism that absorbs nutrients from the body of another organism, ofter harming it in the process
host cells a cell that a virus infects and uses to make copies of itself
algae protists that live mostly in water and use sunlight as a cource of energy
plankton mostly microcopic organisms that drift in great numbers through bodies of water
protozoa animal-like protists that eat other organisms or decaying parts of other organisms
methanogens viruses that produce methane and die when exposed to oxygen
halophiles viruses that live in salty lakes and ponds and may die if water isn't salty enough
thermophiles archaea that live in extream weather like cold or hot
euglena single-celled organisms that move like animals but get energy from sunlight
diatoms single-celled algae the float around covered by hard shells
seaweed multicellular protist that floats in water
pathogen harmful bacteria
