Positive Sign | The test is considered positive by a diminished radial pulse pulse or recurrance of symptoms |
Techniques Used/Muscles to Work | Anterior, middle and posterior scalenese, pectoralis minor |

What is it used for? | To assess the weakness of deep neck flexors |
Client presenting symptoms? | Neck pain, decreased range of motion in cervical area, head forward posture and head aches |
Positive sign | If chin comes forward as the first movement |
Techniques used/muscles to work | Strip longus colli, trigger point therapy, client actively engage subocipitals and SCM |

What is it used for? | Compression-to assess for compression of a cervical nerve root or root irritation. Distraction-to relieve pressure on the cervical nerve roots |
Client presenting symptoms? | Radiating pain and sharp shooting pain |
Positive sign | Compression-radiating pain in the arm on of the affected side. Distraction-relief of pain |
Techniques used/muscles to work | Compression-client sits, LMT pushes top of head down from behind client. Distraction, client sits, LMT stands behind client and pulls head up grasphing at occiput and temporal areas. |
