feudalism | a an agreement of loyalty between a lord (daimyo) and vassal (samurai) |

constitution | a plan of government. Japan's first constitution was created by Prince Shotoku. |
clans | a group of families related by blood or marriage. By A.D. 300 the Japanese lived with their clans. |
