What are narcotics? Controlled substances that can be addictive or abused
Drug Standards Rules set to assure consumers that they are getting what they pay for.
Drugs must be standardized to: Uniform strength, Quality,and Purity
In 1906 –Pure Food & Drug Act 1st government attempt to establish consumer protection in making of food & drugs ◦Demanded that morphine based drugs have a label listing such ◦Established a written resource for officially approved drugs
