Refers pain deep under knee cap and runs the length of the femur. Rectus Femoris
Refers pain to medial knee and thigh. Vastus Medialis
Refers pain to lateral knee and thigh. Vastus Lateralis
Refers pain to upper anterior thigh. Vastus Intermedius
Refers pain minimally over muscle and is continuous traversing the path of the femoral artery. Sartorius
Refers pain on the back of the leg from the buttocks to mid calf. Hamstrings: Semitendinosus, Semimembranosus & Biceps Femoris
Refers pain along the lateral thigh. Can cause an "ice pick" or "electrical charge" type pain over the area. Tensor Fasciae Latae
Refers pain over the groin and medial thigh. Adductor Magnus
Refers pain over anterior, medial thigh and can spill into genital area. Adductor Longus & Brevis
Refers pain over medial thigh, genital area, and greater trochanter. Can cause lateral shooting pain or a "catch" in the hip. Pectineus
Local to muscle belly over the medial aspect of the thigh. Gracilis
Refers pain to medial lumbar area, abs (from epigastrum to groin), anterior thigh from groin to halfway to the knee. Iliopsoas
