The origin of the deltoid is identical to the insertion of which muscle? trapezius
What action can you ask your partner to perform at the shoulder in order to contract the entire deltoid? abduction
Which muscle is a complete synergist with the latissimus dorsi and is sometimes called "lats little helper?" teres major
Which of the following is NOT an action created by contracting the latissimus dorsi? lateral rotation of the shoulder
Which muscle is an antagonist to itself? pectoralis major
The pectoralis minor attaches to which bony landmark? corocoid process
Which muscle is a synergist with the teres major in lateral rotation of the shoulder? infraspinatous
Which is the insertion of the triceps brachii olecranon process of the ulna
A traumatic blow to the sternum can easily damage the inferior portion of the bone which is the: xiphoid process
Making the classic massage student mistake of performing percussion over the kidneys will witness this offense performed at the: twelfth rib
Muscles deep to Trapezius at the posterior neck may contribute to all cervical join movements except: flexion
A massage stroke from T12 along the Iliocostals in a caudal direction will contact which bony structure? iliac crest
The ribs will __________ when exhaling deeply. depress
If a massage stroke accidentally nicks the client's spine, the therapist was likely working the: spinalis
First addressing spinalis, second addressing longissimus, and third addressing iliocostalis is working the Erector spinae group in which order? medial to lateral
Strain at the inferior attachment of Quadratus Lumborum will be witnessed at the: Iliac crest
A dislocation of the pubic symphysis will directly impact which muscle's attachment site? Rectus abdominis
What forms the visible row of bumps running down the center of the back? spinous processes
Which vertebrae does not have a spinous process? C-1
What type of ribs are the eleventh and twelfth? floating
A hiccup is caused by involuntary contraction of which muscle? Diaphragm
Which is the origin of the Quadratus Lumborum? posterior iliac crest
Which movement would lengthen the fibers of the Quadratus Lumborum on the right side of the body? lateral flexion to the left
What triangular-shaped muscle is a weak elbow extensor located lateral tot the olecranon process? anconeus
Which incident can easily cause a fracture of within the carpal bone structure? Bracing one's fall with an extended wrist when falling to the ground
A stroke from the flexor retinaculum towards the medial epicondyle is traveling in which direction? Proximal
When striking your arm upon a hard surface and receiving the "funny bone" sensation of pain, which nerve has been directly impacted? Ulnar
A massage stroke deep to Biceps Brachii upon the distal humeral region will compress upon the: Brachialis
Each wrist contains how many carpal bones? 8
Which bony landmark serves as an attachment site for the tendons of the wrist and hand flexors? medial epicondyle
Which is a bony landmark NOT found on both the radius and ulna? olecranon process

Name three synergists of elbow flexion. Brachialis, Biceps Brachii, and Brachioradialis or Pronator Teres
The deltoids can cause 7 different movements during contraction. When the Deltoids are balanced and contract as a unit, they only cause abduction. Why? The anterior fibers and posterior fibers each do 3 antagonist actions that cancel each other out, leaving only abduction from the middle fibers.
Muscles create movement at their insertion. What movement does the trapezius create at its origin? Explain how the trapezius can create movement at its origin. Lateral flexion: if the scapula is stable, the cervical spine and skull become the less stable attachments and are pulled towards the scapular insertion
