Term | Definition |

pronoun | a word that is used in place of one or more nouns or pronouns |
antecedent | the word that the pronoun stands for or refers to |
personal pronoun | refers to the one speaking, the one spoken to, or the one spoken about (I, me, my, you, your, he, him, she, it, they, etc.) |
reflexive pronoun | refers to the subject of a sentence and functions as a complement or as an object of a preposition (myself, ourselves, himself, itself, themselves) |
intensive pronoun | emphasizes its antecedent and has no grammatical function (myself, ourselves, himself, itself, themselves) |
demonstrative pronoun | used to point out a specific person, place, thing, or idea (this, that, these, those) |
interrogative pronoun | introduces a question (who, whom, whose, which, that) |
relative pronoun | introduces a subordinate clause (who, whom, whose, which, that) |
