Holocaust Vocab

TermDefinition
Ghetto (WWII version) a confined area, typically a neighborhood or section of a city, where Jewish people were forcibly segregated and compelled to live under inhumane conditions.
Refugee a person who has been forced to leave their home country due to persecution, war, or violence. They seek safety and protection in another country.
Genocide the deliberate and systematic extermination of a particular racial, ethnic, religious, or national group.
Antisemitism the hostility, discrimination, or prejudice against Jewish people based on their religion, ethnicity, or heritage.
Torah the central sacred text of Judaism.
Bias a tendency or prejudice in favor of or against something or someone, typically in a way that is considered unfair.
Holocaust the systematic genocide of approximately six million Jews by Nazi Germany during World War II.
Mischlinge a German term used during World War II to describe individuals with mixed Jewish and non-Jewish ancestry.
Scapegoat A scapegoat is a person or group who is blamed for the mistakes or misfortunes of others, often unfairly.
Aryan a term once used to describe a people who spoke Indo-European languages.
