What are the four primary types of tissues in the human body? Epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscle tissue, and nervous tissue.
What is the primary function of muscles in the human body? The primary function of muscles is to produce movement.
Which type of muscle is responsible for voluntary movement? Skeletal muscle.
What are the three main types of muscles in the human body? Skeletal muscle, smooth muscle, and cardiac muscle.
Which type of muscle is found in the walls of hollow organs such as the stomach and blood vessels? Smooth muscle.
What are the two main types of bone tissue? Compact bone and spongy bone.
What are the five main types of bones in the human body? Long bones, short bones, flat bones, irregular bones, and sesamoid bones.
Give an example of a long bone. The femur (thigh bone) is an example of a long bone.
Where are flat bones typically found in the body? Flat bones are found in areas where extensive protection or muscle attachment is needed, such as the skull, ribs, and sternum.
Where is cardiac muscle found? Cardiac muscle is found exclusively in the heart.
What are the two main proteins responsible for muscle contraction? Actin and myosin.
Where are melanocytes located? Melanocytes are located in the stratum basale of the epidermis.
What is the primary component of the dermis? Connective tissue.
What structures are found in the dermis? Blood vessels, nerves, hair follicles, sweat glands, and sebaceous glands.
What is the function of the hypodermis? The hypodermis serves as insulation, padding, and energy storage for the body.
