brain parts & function

brain stem the largest & most complete part of the brain. it contains of the cerebrum - the area with all the folds & grooves
hypothalamus this part controls your pulse, thirst, appetite, sleep patterns & other processes in the body
cerebrum this gland controls growth, metabolism, water & mineral balance, maturity, and response to stress
forebrain this part takes in, sends out & coordinates the brain's messages
pituitary gland this part is responsible for balance, movement, and coordination
bone this protects the brain from damage
spine a set of ring-shaped bones called vertebrae that extends from the skull down the body & encloses the spinal cord
spinal cord a long bundle of nerve tissue about 18 inches long & 1/2 inch thick that extends from the brain down the body
sight direction of contract, color & movement
smell sencony nervous in the nose that detects oder molecules & relay signals to the olfactory bulb
hearing the auditory nerve then sends those signals to your brain
touch the parential lobe is also involved in interpreting pain & touch in the body
