Figurative Language terms and definitions in Spanish.

TermDefinition
lenguaje figurativo una herramienta que utiliza un autor para ayudar al lector a visualizar lo que sucede en una historia o poema. Los lectores deben interpretar el significado.
lenguaje litera el autor expresa las palabras y los hechos tal como son. No se necesita interpretación por parte del lector.
Simil Un símil es una comparación usando me gusta o como. Suele comparar dos objetos diferentes que tienen algo en común.
Metáfora Una metáfora afirma que una cosa es otra. Es una comparación, pero NO utiliza like o as para hacer la comparación.
Aliteración Figura retórica en la que dos o más palabras seguidas comienzan con los mismos sonidos. Hay sonidos que se repiten. La aliteración se utiliza para dar énfasis o efecto.
Onomatopeya Una figura retórica en la que la palabra se parece al sonido que produce, y casi podemos escuchar esos sonidos mientras leemos.
Alusión Figura retórica que hace referencia a un lugar, persona o evento real, imaginario o histórico.
Atenuación una expresión con menos fuerza de la esperada.
Proverbio Una figura retórica en la que se da un poco de sabiduría. También suelen dar consejos o expresar verdades.
Oxímoron Oxímoron cuando se juntan dos palabras que tienen significados opuestos.
Incluso un chiste malo y cursi que juega con el significado de las palabras.
