Voluntary migration | Voluntarily moving away and to a location |
Forced migration | Forced to move away and from a location |
Chain migration | Somebody moves so family and/or friends go to them |
Guest workers | People from a different country get a visa to work in another country |
Internal migration | Migration within a country |
International migration | Crossing over country borders to migrate |
IntERregional migration | Moving from one region to another |
IntRAregional migration | Moving within a region |
Step migration | Small movements to get a final destination |
Transhumance | Seasonal herding of animals |
Push factor | Elements to move somebody out of a location |
Pull factor | Elements to move somebody to a location |
Refugee | Person getting to move to a location because of unsafe situations |
Asylum seeker | Person who is looking for shelter from an unsafe situation |

Remittance | The earnings immigrants get, sent back to the people they love at their place of origin |

Intervening obstacle | An environmental or cultural feature that hinders migrants |
Intervening opportunity | A feature that causes a migrant to choose a different location |
Colonization | One nation almost completely controlling another country |
Xenophobia | Prejudice against people from another culture or country |
Ethnic enclaves | Geographical areas with particular ethnic group clustered in a group |
Distance decay | Describes the effect of distance on cultural or spatial interactions |
