How did Beijing become the capital of China? Yonglo moved the royal court to Beijing
What evidence indicates China lost interest in contacts abroad after 1433? The voyages of Zheng He were stopped.
What is the structure of society in Tokugawa Japan? List classes from top to bottom. Emperor at the top; next shogun, large landowners, the daimyo, samurai warriors, peasants and artisans, and merchants at the bottom
What were the new styles of drama, art, and literature in Tokugawa Japan? Kabuki theater, woodblock printing, urban fictions, and haiku poetry
Why did the emperor have less power than a shogun? The emperor had no army and no control over land. Shoguns had both.
What items did the Portuguese merchants bring with them that interested the daimyo seeking a battlefield advantage? muskets and a cannon
What did Christian missionaries bring with them to China? European science and technology
