culture (n) The way a group of people lives and understands the world, including ideas, beliefs and values; traditions, religion, language, rules, gender, roles, food, clothing, art, music, dance, sports, and other ways of life.
beliefs (n) Strong opinions; ideas believed to be true.
impact (v) To affect directly.
values (n) Ideas about what is important and how to live in a way that is good or rightl
customs (n) Usual or accepted practices of a social group.
prosperous (adj) Having wealth, success, or good fortune.
thriving (v) Doing well or being successul.
homeland (n) One's country or region of origin.
sustained (v) Provided with the basic necessities of life; kept something going or existing.
subsistence (n) Up from below definition of sub-
descendants (n) Down, away from definition of de-
conflict (n) An argument or fight between two opposing sides.
treaty (n) An agreement between two opposing sides; a document that explains the terms of the agreement.
reservation (n) An area of land given to American Indians by the U.S. government as payment for taking the land of their original homes. The government forced American Indians to move to and live on reservatons.
plain words (n) Words that are clear and easy to understand.
heed (v) To pay attention to; to take notice of.
truce (n) An agreement by warring parties to stop fighting.
grieved (v) Felt great sadness.
surrender (v) To give up; to give in to another's power or demands.
poverty (n) Poor; not having enough property, money, or food.
inadequate (adj) Less than what is needed ;not enough.
betrayed (v) Mislead; failed to fulfill as in hopes, needs, or expectations.
justice (n) Using the law to treat others fairly.
misinterpretations (n) Badley or wrongly (definition of mis-)
liberty (n) Freedom to do or say what one thinks or feels.
