QuestionAnswer
Producers make their own food by using sunlight; an autotroph
Consumers consume other organisms to obtain their food; a heterotroph
Decomposers breakdown and consume dead organisms to obtain their food.
Symbiosis close relationships between different species where one of the species benefits from the relationship.
Mutualism both species benefit from the relationship
Commensalism one species benefits and the other is not effected
Parasite an organism that lives on or inside another organism and harms the host.
Host the organism that a parasite lives in or on.
Ecology The study of how living things interact with each other and their environment
Habitat an environment that provides an organism with the things it needs to live, grow, and reproduce
Population all the members of one species in a particular area
Community all the different populations that live together in an area
Ecosystem the community of organisms that live in a particular area, along with their nonliving surroundings.
Primary consumers organisms that eat producers; they are herbivores
Secondary consumers organisms that eat primary consumers; they are carnivores
