Saffir-Simpson Scale a 1 to 5 rating based only on a hurricane's maximum sustained wind speed
Mercalli Scale a twelve point scale for expressing the local intensity of an earthquake, ranging from virtually imperceptible to total destruction

Transform Boundary places where plates slide sideways past each other

Storm Surge abnormal rise in seawater level during a storm, measured as the height of the water above the normal predicted astronomical tide
