Scientific notation a way of expressing a number as a product in the form n *10a, where a is an integer and n is a decimal number such that 1< n <10
Cube root of x the number that when cubed is equal to x
Perfect cube the product when an integer is used as a factor three times
Perfect square the product of an integer and itself
Square root of x the number that when multiplied by itself is equal to x
Irrational number a number that cannot be expressed as a quotient of two integers. The decimal expansion of an irrational number never repeats itself or terminates.
Real numbers the set of rational and irrational numbers
Converse of the Pythagorean theorem in a triangle, if the square of the length of the longest side is equal to the sum of the square of the lengths of the other two sides, then the triangle is a right triangle.
Hypotenuse the side of a right triangle opposite the right angle
Legs (of a right triangle) the two sides of a right triangle that form the right triangle
Pythagorean theorem in any right triangle, the sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs, a and b, is equal to the square of the length of the hypotenuse, c. So a2+b2=c2
Cone a three-dimensional figure with one circular base and one vertex, connected by a curved surface.
Sphere a three-dimensional figure in which every point is the same distance from the center
