HURRICANE | - A storm with a violent wind,in particlaur a tropical cyclone in the carribean. |
EARTHQUAKE | - A sudden & violent shaking of the ground, somethimes causing great destrustion, as a result of movements within the earth's crust or volcanic action. |
VOLCANIC ERUPTION | - A volcanic eruption oocurs when hot materails from the earth's interior are thorwn out of a volcano. |
FLOOD | - Occurs when an overflow of water submerges land that is usually dry,(it is usually caused by heavy rainfall, rapid snow melt,or strom surge from a cyclone or tsunami in cosatal areas). |
CONE OF UNCERTIANY | - The visual picture of a hurricane forecast on a map. |
NATUTRAL DIASTER | -A negative impact following an actual occurrence of natural hazard in the event that it significantly harms a community. |
FORECAST | - A scienctific claim ( statement backed by evidence & scientific reasoning) about the likehood that a event will occur in thr future. |
RISK | - The chance (probabilty) that a danger of hazard will occur. |
NATURAL HAZARD FORECAST | - A sciencfitic claim about the likehood of a natuarl hazard event occuring in a particluar place. |
STROM SURGE | - An abnormal rise in sea level along the coast caused by the storm. |
MAGNiTUDE | - A measurement of the energy or strength of a natuarl hazard event. Generally, the stronger the hazard, the greater its magnitude. |
SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE | - a system for classifgingy the intesity ofa hurricane based in its wind speed. |
SEVERITY | - Extent of danger, or loss from a natuarl hazard event. |
PRECURSOR | - An event that ocurrs before a natural hazard can help in predicting that the hazard event will occur. |
MONITORING | - To make measurements and obsrvations over thime to keep track of something. |
SEISMOMETER | - An instrumnet used to measure the shaking from an earthquake. |
